For starters, once a year, vacuum out the area around the furnace’s blower. If possible, also slide out the fan unit, clean each fan blade with a toothbrush, and then vacuum with a brush attachment on a vacuum cleaner. While you’re at it, look for oil ports on the motor, normally located near the motor shaft. If the motor has these, apply two to three drops of non-detergent motor oil into each port (you may have to remove a cover plate to do this). Though most contemporary motors don’t require lubrication, do lubricate motors with oil ports once a year. For more about maintenance, see Maintenance Checklist for Central Heating Systems.
AC air handler squealing or grinding noises. Though most air handlers have direct-drive motors, some older units may be belt-driven. Squealing sounds from a belt-drive air handler generally occur when the belt that connects the motor to the blower slips. In most cases, the belt is improperly aligned or worn and needs replacement. Follow the instructions above under Air Conditioner Not Blowing Air and refer to your owner’s manual.

Cody shows up on time, explains what he's doing or has done and is thorough in his maintenance procedures even in a hot Arizona attic. He and his company really deserve our five-star rating."
A Bit Pricy For the Work Done But It Was A Necessary Fix That Required The Tech To Make A Trip To Home Depot And Back. When Calling For The Repair I Expected A Much More Severe Problem That If I Had Been Correct Would Have Been A Much More Expensive Fix. The Problem Turned Out To Be A Simple Problem That Required The Tech To Make A Trip To Home Depot For A $10 Part Afterwhich He Was Able To R&R The Part In About Two Minutes. Problem Solved.
